Flowers Are a Girls Best Friend

Some of my earliest memories as a child were of going out in the fields and picking any kind of flowers I could find. I presented these bouquets to my mother, which were always displayed in our kitchen. It was also evident at a very early age that I had artistic ability, which I believe is linked to the fondness of all things beautiful. When I saw those flowers in the field, they had to come home with me. My favorite florals are ones that appear to be effortless, although there is some design. Gardening has been one of my hobbies for years, and now I'm reaping the rewards. Not always but generally, when I see an arrangement from a florist they appear to be stiff and unimaginative. Having your own garden gives you the creative license to make your weekly masterpieces and enjoy them. Not that it's all pleasure as every gardner knows, hours and hours of work and watering sometimes at midnight if I didn't get to it during the day. Just like in my childhood now when I see flowers I want them. I'd like to bring home most of the Home Depot garden department, but I use discretion in these matters. Little by little one hydrangea and rose bush to the next, our garden has been growing and flourishing, which has been very gratifying to me and also to some appreciating neighbors. For centuries canvases, textiles, porcelains and much more have been graced with images of flowers. Although there is no depiction that can be as beautiful as the garden flower itself. It's a joy to share florals with friends and also with my church, giving back to the Lord a thank you for creating such beauty.
